Scholarship in Google Classroom

Scholarship

Research and find a scholarship with an essay (minimum 300 words)
Even if you don't plan on going to college at the moment it is always a good idea to have a plan b to fall back on.

You will need to use a scholarship data base to help you find the scholarship of your choosing. Most universities have data bases in which you can search through their scholarships. Ms. Winter has some posted (or a QR code ) outside of the office... I think.
There are also many other places on the internet in which to find a scholarship, your responsibility with that is to make sure it is reliable/credible. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP!!

You may use the Barbara Jordan or Latino History Scholarships that I have previously shown to you, but you must complete the entire requirements for the scholarship you choose.

It must have an essay with a minimum of 300 words.
You must apply.
You must do all that is required.

AFTER you have written your essay to apply with MAKE A COPY or your essay to answer my questions.

So I know that you've done so I need you to answer these questions upon turning in your scholarship essays:
1. Where did you find the scholarship?
2. What are the requirements of the scholarship?
3. What was the topic and the name of the scholarship?
4. Why did you pick this one in particular?
5. When did you submit it? Date, and time.
6. What exact steps did you have to follow in order to submit your scholarship application?

If you do not submit this on time you will have to do the formal email of shame and ask me to reopen the assignment.
(much like many college students have to do with their professors.)

8/31/23 Reference Letter in Google Classroom

8/31/23 Reference Letter

First research what a reference letter is or a letter of recommendation, if you don’t know what it is.
There are templates for them on google docs I think… probably…🤷‍♀️

Think about an authority figure you would ask to write a letter of recommendation for you. Then construct and email to that person requesting a letter of recommendation after finding the correct template for their email purpose. You may want to add qualities that you think best suit you, and puts your best face forward.

Here are some places that may require a reference:

• College program/admission
• Job opportunity
• Scholarship Application
• Volunteer opportunity

Then you will begin to make a rough draft of a letter of recommendation for yourself. It does not have to be long just enough so your recommender knows what to put about you.

If you’re going to college I’d suggest picking that topic. Otherwise just pick a topic from the bullet list so that you can then write a formal (professional) email to one of your teachers (me probably cause I just love English so much) or former/current boss.

Asking them (me) to write you a letter of recommendation for college/job/whatev then you need to not actually do an email but pretend and write it on google docs or in the comments of the assignment. Make sure you list some of your good qualities that you may want said employer or college application to have.

To take it a step further you can even challenge yourself to write your own full letter of recommendation for yourself! That then who ever you need to write one for you can use it as a template. Oh that’s so awesome! You’re so cool 😎 for doing that thanks!

My whole lesson instructions deleted. Good job google🙃 so I am re writing them right now at 2:50. 🙃.

Hope that makes sense, my brain is shut off after my 5 hour long 105 question 2 analysis essay exam… that I ran out of time on after I answered the last question. 🥲Bare with me.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
