Debora Sanchez-Spanish
Señora Sanchez
High School Spanish Teacher (LOTE) | Gorman High School
About Me:
I am a certified Texas educator specializing in Languages Other Than English (LOTE) with many years of teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and secondary education certification through the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
I graduated from Gorman High School in 1995 and have had the privilege of staying in my hometown to pursue my career. How fortunate is that!
I have taught at Gorman High School for 20 years. WOW, time flies when you are having fun. I was a substitute teacher in band for about a year. Then I was hired as paraprofessional working in special education. Finally, I had an individual that believed in me and opened the doors to education and hired as the high school Spanish teacher in 2004. I have loved every minute of it and have grown as a teacher and as an individual. I began teaching CTE classes several years ago and learned a lot along the way.
Teaching Philosophy:
My classroom is an immersive, student-centered environment aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. I focus on communicative proficiency—helping students build real-world speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while fostering a deep appreciation for Hispanic cultures across Texas, Latin America, and Spain.
Courses Taught: Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III, CTE classes
